Jill Scott was born on April 4, 1972, in Philadelphia Pennsylvania to her mother Joyce Scott. Jill Scott was raised by both her mother and grandmother. Scott is an all-only child. Scott graduated from The Philadelphia High School for Girls. After that, she attended Temple University. She completed her secondary education her time at Temple University while working on two other jobs. She was hoping to become the high school's English teacher. It was impossible to realize this dream when, after three years of studying while working as a teacher assistant, she quit college.
